Faceless (2026)
The latest and most developed in a series of knit/crochet pieces exploring anonymity at the rave and the freedom that grants me.
The text reads ‘I’m not real’ and the piece is adorned with aluminium wire.
I chose to document this piece at the Queer Art Rave Riposte in London, this environment has given me freedom to experiment with my appearance and be “a performer in of myself”.
Early wearable work
In 2024 I developed a swirly wire technique and applied it across my work during this period (Chains of thought 2024). I love aluminium wire’s malleability and the fluid shapes that contrast with the hard metal.
This coincided with my new found metal working skills in the welding bay, which came together to create these massively impractical shoulder pieces.
I have been crocheting since the pandemic, mainly free-handing and experimenting with colour and shape. I have since learnt to knit, applying my knowledge of garment construction and advancing my skills.
I take inspiration from the materials themselves but also the cultural environments I surround myself with.
GREEN is everything and everywhere. green is life.
I put together a multimedia textile-photo-video-sound concept revolving around the euphoria I experience in green space.
This was a site specific piece set on the Datchet Thames Path, a place I am deeply attached to.
An early edition of the crochet horns I became for in the London rave scene evolved into a half body knit-crochet freehand experiment.
To fully realise my concept I enlisted the help of LemonLens and Berlyn Sanchez to aid in sound design and videography. The result is a piece I am still insanely proud of today.
World building, performance and multi-media installation are aspirations of mine, more to come!
