Isavelle Art

Artist Statement

Isavelle is a London based textile artist. With a practice incorporating a variety of textile-based mediums and photographic documentation their work focusses on materiality and the intersection between body, mind and environment.
Their research-based practice centres around queer feminist textile history, and the fine-art/ fibre art movement. Fascinated with tactility, they work with hand-based media and often document their sculptural works in relation to living bodies. Intimacy is integral to Isavelle’s work, from the intimacy of touch through making to the intimacy between life and living.
The intimacy of domesticity is also a key theme; how domestic objects such as everyday textiles and how they follow us throughout our lives, carrying stories.
